Regulation of the IP3 receptor isoforms
Hormones and growth factors trigger the production of inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate (IP3). IP3 binds to its receptor, a calcium channel, to release calcium from internal stores. These calcium signals participate in many important aspects of cellular physiology such as metabolism regulation, secretion, genes transcription, cell proliferation and transformation. Our group investigates how the IP3 receptor functions and communicates with other proteins within the cell.
