| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Clinical trials provide increasing evidence that dyssynchronous left ventricular (LV) contraction due to either permanent right ventricular apex (RVA) pacing or delayed electrical activation as typically observed in left bundle branch block (LBBB) has a negative impact on LV function. Biventricular pacing, usually performed via the transvenous approach with insertion of the LV lead via the coronary sinus, has been introduced to correct inter- and intraventricular conduction delays. However, in patients with complex congenital heart disease a transvenous approach may be precluded and require epicardial pacing. Aim of this study is to evaluate whether a crossover from chronic RVA pacing to epicardial single-site LV pacing in children improves LV dyssynchrony and performance in pediatric patients. |
