Title / Titel	Change of tapering profiles of the thoracic aorta during somatic growth. An in vivo MRI study.

Summary / Zusammenfassung	The normal aortic arch presents a continuous decrease of its diameter, i.e. a tapering, along its course. Obstruction or dilatation of the aortic arch occurring in congenital heart disease (CHD) influence blood flow dynamics and vascular growth. Information about the regular growth mechanisms of the thoracic aorta in its different segments during childhood are lacking. Aim of this study is to analyse the tapering of the thoracic aorta and compare relative growth rates of defined aortic segments in vivo by using contrast enhanced MR angiography (CEMRA). Tapering profiles for different age groups of healty children are generated.
