| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Diversity beliefs - attitudes towards diversity with regard to seeing value in social diversity or not - are an important determinant for the performance of work groups. It is thus important to determine how diversity beliefs are formed at an early stage in life. By drawing on the contact hypothesis, we assume that exposure to diverse individuals at an early stage in life leads to pro-diversity beliefs. We thus invetigate how exposure to different forms of social diversity (ethnic diversity, individuals with special needs or disabilities) shape diversity beliefs among school children. Employing interviews and network analyses, we survey the social networks in more than 20 school classes (ages 6 - 11) and determine whether children with more contact to diverse individuals develop more pro-diversity beliefs. | ||
