Title / Titel Relevance of Lipid Transfer Protein sensitisation in celeriac and mugwort pollen allergy
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Original title / Originaltitel Relevanz des Lipid Transfer Proteins (LTP) bei der Sellerie- und Beifussallergie.
Summary / Zusammenfassung Lipid transfer proteins (LTP) are panallergens in plant foods. Sensitisation to LTP is particularly frequent in Mediterranean countries and associated with an increased risk for severe systemic allergic reactions. Patients with mugwort pollen related celeriac allergy often suffer from systemic allergic reactions up to anaphylaxis upon celeriac ingestion. The cross-reacting allergen between mugwort pollen and celeriac, however, has not yet been identified. LTP is a possible candidate. The current project investigates cross-reacting allergens including LTP in mugwort pollen and celeriac allergic patients.
