| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Molecular methods (e.g., PCR) have significantly improved the detection of uncultured or difficult to culture organisms in diagnostic laboratories, e.g. the detection of uncultivated bacteria by broad-range PCR targeting the 16S rRNA genes. We are developing and optimising molecular methods with regard to sensitivity, specificity and time-to-result. In addition, methods for the rapid and reliable identification of bacteria and fungi by sequence analysis are being established and implemented in the diagnostic laboratory. Weitere Informationen |
