| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The central question of the project is whether (and how) goal orientation towards change versus stability might affect the salience of the means as compared to the outcomes of goal pursuit. It is widely accepted that goals encompass means and outcomes (e.g., Kruglanski et al., 2002), which might vary in salience according to various factors such as age or motivational stage (e.g., Freund, Hennecke, & Riediger, 2010). It is hypothesized that the relative salience of the means or ends is partly determined by the goal orientation towards change or stability. The project will examine the relationship between goal oriantation as well as means and outcomes of a goal using experience sampling and experimental methods. | ||
