| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Personal goals are comprised of means of goal pursuit and desired outcomes of goal attainment. We hypothesize that both success and failure can be either attributed to the (in-)appropriateness of the means of goal pursuit (process-related attribution) or to the (un-)attainability of its desired outcomes (outcome-related attribution). In this research project, we will investigate the effects of process- and outcome-related attributions of success and failure during the pursuit of an exercising goal. In a quasi-experimental design, we will compare inexperienced and experienced exercisers. Weekly questionnaires will longitudinally assess their process- and outcome-related attributions, process- and outcome-related behavioral reactions to failure and success as well as their affective well-being. | ||||
