| Summary / Zusammenfassung | This research project (habilitation) in history of medicine focuses on the perception, care, and therapy of sick children in middle and lower class societies. By means of archival material from Southern Germany and Northern Switzerland, the study deals with questions like: What happened with poor sick children in the 18th century? Who cared for them? Which institutions offered treatment? What were the therapies like? What value had the life and health of poor children? Which role played their working or reproducing capability? How was the everyday life of sick children, their parents and healers? The study combines approaches from the disciplines history and medicine. | ||
