| Summary / Zusammenfassung | In this study a new software Definiens professional (former eCognition) is applied. The Software uses a patented segmentation technique which makes it possible to generate a hierarchical net of image segments on several levels of scale. Definiens professional can derive meaningful image segments on the one hand and can describe the segment's physical and contextual characteristics on the other hand. Different studies have showed a higher accuracy achieved with the object-oriented analysis approach than with the pixel-based approach. Research studies dealing with the extraction of meaningful objects, forest parameter extraction or land use classification using high resolution airborne or space-borne data are currently in progress at our Lab. | ||
