Completed research project

Title / Titel Screening, identification and characterization of host genes regulating tumor formation associated with Epstein-Barr virus
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Summary / Zusammenfassung The proposed project aims to test the hypothesis that Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated tumor formation is driven by an altered regulation of host genes in immune reactive cells. Thus, we will infect tonsil histocultures iatrogenically immunosuppressed or not with EBV replicated in cell cultures, sort T and B lymphocytes and screen the human transcriptome using microchip technology, in an attempt to identify genes differentially regulated during the formation of EBV-associated tumors.
Keywords / Suchbegriffe Epstein-Barr virus, tumor, cytokines, pathogenesis, microchip, gene expression, tonsil histocultures
