| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The goal of this study is to estimate prevalence rates of disorders previously disregarded in epidemiological studies with the elderly. A number of trauma-, bereavement-, and stress-related disorders were investigated which include PTSD, complicated grief, major and recurrent brief depression, adjustment disorders (according to a new theory-driven criteria set), and chronic fatigue syndrome. To estimate prevalences, the authors drew a population-based, age-stratified, and sex-stratified random sample of residents from Zurich, Switzerland, aged 65 yrs and older. The structured clinical interview comprises SCID-like moduls of all relevant disorders and somatic conditions. The newly developed operationalizations of disorders include complicated grief (Horowitz et al., 1997), recurrent brief depression (Angst et al., 1990), and adjustment disorders (Maercker et al., 2003). In addition, treatment seeking behavior and motivational features are assessed. | ||
