| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Within this project we are exploring the neuroscientific background of presence experience. For this fMRI and rTMS methods are used. As a paradigm spatial tasks will be used requiring to navigate to virtual environments. We anticipate that different control modes can be used for spatial navigation. In mode 1, subjects will rely mostly on implicit strategies while they navigate. This strategy will be associated with presence experiences because the subjects imagine to be within the virtual environment. In mode 2, the subjects navigate as being outside the virtual environment. Becuase this strategy is more demanding than mode 1, we anticipate the involvement of memory and frontal structures. In a second set of experiments, we will investigate the difference between emotional experience and emotional perception applying the same methods as for the first set of experiments.
