Discovery and quantification of TSE markers using mass spectrometry
Summary / Zusammenfassung
The technologies used for the sensitive quantification of PrPSc will be exploited for the identification and detection of surrogate markers specific for transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs). These marker proteins will allow for ante mortem diagnosis of TSEs. We will focus exclusively on the urinary proteome, which is less complex than that of blood. Candidate surrogate markers in urine be validated to be specific for TSEs and the quantification protocol established for the quantification of PrPSc will be adapted.
