Title / Titel Number representation deficits in adult aphasics and normal individuals and standardization of the Hellenic Aachen Aphasia Test
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Summary / Zusammenfassung Number representation deficits may involve distortions of the "number space", i.e. an analog representation of the number line purportedly extending from left to right in our culture. We have investigated the characteristics of number space in healthy subjects (Bächtold et al., 1998) and explored its distortions in patients with right brain damage (Vuilleumier et al., in press). We now plan to extend our work to patients with left hemisphere lesions (with and without aphasia). In extension of previous work, single case studies of specific number deficits in aphasia are also planned (Proios et al., 2002).
In a second part of the project, a validation of the Greek translation of the Aaachen Aphasia Test is undertaken.
