| Summary / Zusammenfassung | From different studies of our work group we know that work-related stress and traumas are related to an increasing risk for psychic mal-adaptation. Along with the professional workers from the fire and life-saving services, police men and women are also a part of such high risk population for servere stressful experiences and traumas. Through this study, the frequency an quality of stress and traumatization and the prevalence rate of post traumatic stress disorders in police men and women of Canton of Zurich and selected specialized groups of the Swiss Federal Police will be inquired into (n=2300). Additionally we will assess the kind of coping strategies which are used by police men and women to cope with the variety of work related stressors and traumas. We expect subgroups of policemen and women with very helpful strategies to keep themselves healthy. The findings of the afore-mentioned groups could give precious advice for the conception of preventive interventions. |
