| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The challenge of finding an adequate delivery device for inhalation therapy particularly applies to young children. Young children are an inherently uncooperative population with characteristic breathing patterns and thus the delivery methods that may be effectively used for inhaled therapies in this age group is limited. We would anticipate that the results obtained from this study would: (i) allow the formulation of a set of recommendations for the dosage of inhaled drugs for young children (ii)provide information on the best inhalation system for young children (iii)provide an assessment on whether the levels of inhaled drug, especially inhaled steroids, currently prescribed for young children are appropriate, based on measurements of lung deposition per kilogram body weight and of drug distribution within the airways as well as clinical outcome measurements. |
