Summary / Zusammenfassung	Effective goal-striving and self-regulation comprise two important abilities: First, to commit oneself to realistic goals and pursue them and second, to disengage in time from goals when their implementation no longer seems feasible. The first facet - goal setting and goal striving - is a widely covered topic in motivation and social psychology. By contrast, disengagement from goals is a relatively neglected area of research. This research project focuses on an experimental analysis of the determinants and processes related to disengagement from goals.
