Title / Titel Knowledge technology and cognitive modeling in computer-assisted diagnosis
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Original title / Originaltitel Wissenstechnologie, kognitive Modellierung und computerunterstützte Diagnostik
Summary / Zusammenfassung In order to compare and combine several different methods, computer programs, and theories in the domains of medical and psychological diagnosis, a unifying modeling framework is developed. Concepts from artficial intelligence research (e.g., reusable ontologies and abstract problem-solving methods) and from Cognitive Science (e.g., cognitive architectures such as SOAR, ACT-R, ECHO) are used to model human diagnostic problem-solving behavior. In order to assess the usefulness of these models, computational models and expert systems for the construction of adaptive, process-oriented diagnostic tools are developed. The performance of such models is compared with empirical research data, analyzed in the context of cognitive systems engineering concepts (e.g., user acceptance, usability), and evaluated with formal evaluation and assessment criteria.
