Title / Titel Computer-supported tools for the elicitation and representation of knowledge
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Original title / Originaltitel Computerunterstützte Werkzeuge zur Erhebung und Darstellung von Wissen
Summary / Zusammenfassung This project evaluates the feasibility and practical usage of knowledge acquisition tools and methods in the context of knowledge-intensive computer programs. The aim is to develop a psychological framework to evaluate concepts from information technology and formal theories of knowledge representation and to study the effects and interactions of pertinent tool use on the modeling and realization of the resulting computer systems. Case- and field-studies of research systems (e.g., Protégé or MedFrame, which provide or use computerized knowledge acquisition tools) are conducted to assess usage patterns and to define measurable criteria of task-related usefulness and usability.
