Summary / Zusammenfassung	S. Angelo, a central plan building in Perugia from early medieval times, has so far never been treated monographically except of very few short articles. Thus, the dating of the church is still to discuss – it reaches from late 4th century up to 8th century. The aim of the thesis is to specify the time of foundation, to reconstruct the original building and to focus on further aspects such as the use of spolia, questions of liturgy and central plan, the veneration of Saint Michael and the function of the church in the urban context of Perugia.
