| Summary / Zusammenfassung | International market forces - due to globalisation effects and new technology - do not usually stop at the Swiss frontier. The Swiss economy was and will always be in a direct and strong relation to external business partners. Therefore, it is not surprising that Swiss banks are confounded with global trends and influences as well. It is the scope of this research centre to identify the relevant global trends in the banking business, to compare them with Swiss-made actions and reactions and to detect deficiencies in the management of banks. Our research area is restricted to the topics Management Accounting, Control and Risk Management in a broad sense because these three managerial functions are believed to have a major impact on a banks result. In a world driven by shareholder value, it is our intention to capture modern tendencies, to connect accounting with modern economical theories and to present consistent and coherent models and procedures to support banks financial targets in a scientific way. | ||
