| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Development of a new primary course Modern Chinese including a textbook and a systematic introduction to reading and writing Chinese characters for university students. The textbook consists of twelve units, each focusing on one principal theme out of daily life and culture. A unit is designed for 25 class hours. The writing book emphasizes on component analysis and writing skills introducing two hundred frequently used characters (30 class hours). The reading part introduces another 800 characters (70 class hours). Composition guidelines: Language and writing are separated at the beginning. The material is authentic in the sense that it is pragmatically adequate and comprises culturally relevant and up to date informations. It is open so that it can be expanded or reduced. It is transparent and awareness-raising enabling the learner to pick up new things and relate them to existing knowledge and experience. |
