| Abstract (PDF, 14 KB) | |||
| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Research has shown that implementation intentions can be a powerful tool to enhance the probability of performance. Even though this effect has been proven in different areas of behavior and for different samples, no attention has been paid to the specificity of implementation intentions so far. While research suggests that implementation intentions should work better the more specific they are, it also seems plausible that less specific implementation intentions are effective in certain circumstances. Goal intentions which can't be achieved by a singular act (e.g. being an honest person or living healthily) could profit even more from an implementation intention which is applicable to different situations than from a implementation intentions which refer only to one very specific situation. | ||
