| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Abnormal myocardial perfusion may occur in children after inflammatory disease or cardiac surgery for congenital heart disease (CHD) and congenital coronary artery anomalies. Detection of myocardial ischemia by perfusion magnetic resonance imaging in adults has been demonstrated to be very accurate. The purpose of the study is to assess the feasibility of evaluating myocardial perfusion by MRI in children and to compare the results with coronary angiography, which is so far considered as the gold standard. Patients with suspected abnormal myocardial perfusion will undergo perfusion MRI and coronary angiography within the same hospitalization. The results of both examinations will be compared. By demonstrating high accuracy of perfusion MRI in children, we may introduce this relatively new diagnostic technique for non invasive detection of myocardial perfusion defects in children with CHD and thus obviate for several cardiac catheterization exams. |
