| Summary / Zusammenfassung | In this research project, we investigate the role of motivational phase and age/life-stage for goal focus and its adaptiveness. Goal focus is defined as the salience of the outcome or the process of goal pursuit. Adaptiveness of goal focus regarding pursuit and achievement of goals as well as subjective well-being is hypothesized to depend upon (a) motivational phase and (b) chronological age. Experimental studies manipulating motivational phase and/or goal focus will address whether adaptiveness of goal focus changes depending upon whether a person is in the phase of goal setting, goal pursuit, or approaching a (self-set or imposed) deadline for goal achievement. Studies focusing on the role of age on goal focus and its adaptiveness will involve experimental studies as well as experience-sampling methods. | ||||||
