| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Vivid mental images have a strong resemblance to perceived visual images thus leading to the assumption that imagery and perception share common mechanisms, even though they do not rely on identical mechanisms. Moreover, the perceptual experience of seeing is clearly different from imagery - and thus imagery is presumably supported by some distinct processes. A set of behavioral and neuroimaging experiments is designed to discover which mechanisms are in fact shared by visual mental imagery and visual perception. | ||||
