| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Numerous theories and studies specified different goal properties that moderate the relationship between goal-striving and well-being. One of these research lines is facing the content of goals with individual motive dispositions, arguing that for every person dependent from his or her particular needs, other goals are functional. In several studies this assumption was confirmed for the fit of goals with implicit, unconscious motives. The present research project is expanding these findings about the beneficial effects of congruence between goals and motives and the deleterious effects of discrepancies between them respectively on the explicit motive system. In a serial of correlational and longitudinal studies we investigate whether persons who strive for goals which are discrepant from their explicit motives experience lower levels of emotional and physical well-being than persons whose goals are congruent with their explicit motives. | ||||
