| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The importance of risk management as a cornerstone of corporate governance has increased significantly during the last years, though the relevance of robust risk management has been recognized a long time ago. However, in the aftermath of the corporate scandals the calls for not only enhanced corporate governance but also risk management standards became loud. Risk management is generally understood as a process to identify, assess, manage, and control potential events (negative as well as positive) that may affect the entity, to provide reasonable assurance regarding the achievement of the organization’s objectives. Current research is done both on issues of risk management in general and on risk management frameworks. Of research interest are also the interactions of the risk management with other control and assurance functions in an organization as a contribution to effective governance. |
