| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The aim of this research project is to show, to what extent and in what way the relations of the two small states Switzerland and Czechoslovakia under the conditions of the Cold War on the economic, political and cultural level did change. The decisive condition for the development of the relations seems to be the lack of symmetry of the integration of both states in the international system. While Switzerland's growing integration in the sphere of influence of the USA was limited to matters of foreign policy and foreign trade, Czechoslovakia fell under the immediate control of the Soviet Union, completed by the open assumption of power by the Czech Communist Party in february 1948 and by the following stalinization of the political, economic and cultural system. Within this asymmetric framework, which the czech side, especially led to a growing political immobility, the main problem of the interrelationship concentrated on the levels of trade and the compensation of nationalized and confiscated swiss property assets in Czechoslovakia.
