| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The Swaminarayana-Movement is a religious 'sect' of Hinduism founded by Swami Sahajananda ("Lord Swaminarayana") at the beginning of the 19th century in Gujarat. A large Sanskrit text (Satsangijivanam) devoted to the biography and the teachings of the founder has been electronically transliterated. Its further analysis concerns linguistic particularities of modern regional Sanskrit; a study of the continuity of tradition with regard to doctrines and style which the text has inherited or imitated from older texts will contribute to our understanding of 'modernity' and continuity in Hinduism in general, and in the so-called Neo-Hinduism in particular. | ||
