| Summary / Zusammenfassung | All consecutive neonates who underwent surgery for congenital heart disease from 1999 to 2002 and who survived the first two years of life were studied: Retrospective analysis of patient charts and follow up with standardized questionnaire to the paediatricians with regards to feeding behaviour at the age of 2 years. The study shows that feeding problems are frequent after neonatal heart surgery. The type of cardiac surgery, malformation syndromes and prolonged postoperative ventilation are risk factors. The results of this study may improve the recognition of patients at risk for feeding problems and may allow early intervention in the future. | ||
