| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Usage of Internet services is becoming an important part of business and marketing activities by a growing number of organizations. Since the Internet was originally designed as a global academic and research network with minor security capabilities, with the increasing usage for commercial purposes, security is becoming more and more important. Although a number of technical security mechanisms exist, many of them can not be assessed concerning their security aspects and their technical and organizational consequences, since their specifications and implementations are not openly available. The SINUS project deals with the questions, how online service security solutions can be integrated into the security concepts and operational procedures of a commercial organization, and to what extend the usage of a packet filter with openly available specifications is suitable to prevent attacks on an organizational network.
