| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The Pestalozzi-research has been dynamical in the last few years mainly through the activities around the 250th birthday of Pestalozzi 1996 and also through the influences of the contextual "method" (as history of ideas) on the history of paedagogics. An interdisciplinary conference organized by Daniel Troehler in colaboration with the universities of Ulm (Germany), Berne and Zurich at the Pestalozzianum Zurich discussed the main philosophical work of Pestalozzi, the "researches on the development of the human nautre ..." ("Nachforschungen", 1797). The results were published 1999 in the "New Pestalozzi-Studies", volume 6. (ISBN 3-258-06062-2) A second interdisciplinary conference held at the Pestalozzianum in April 2000 discussed the question, why Pestalozzi's "method" after 1800 became so successful. Scholars of different disciplines such as philosophy, history of law, history of religion and history of science presented in their papers the role of "method" in their discipline during the 18th century. The conclusion was, that the 18th century could well be described as "century of method(s)" without having a coherent doctrine of "method". The different faith(s) in "method" seem to be the decisive precondition for the success Pestalozzi's. The papers were published 2002 in the "New Pestalozzi-Studies", volume 7. (ISBN 3-258-06441-5) |
